A couple of months ago I decided to do something about the fact that I seemed to be the only person going to games from Bristol. I set up a facebook group and asked around on local airsoft facebook pages. My facebook group now has 13 members and there are 6 of us going to Aachen. Some of the members turned out to already be on these forums and would have been going to games anyway. Some are vaguely interested and we may eventually get them along to a game or 2.
I am wondering, what would happen if more local groups got set up in this way?
-Easier car sharing
-Recruit a larger player base
-Easier borrowing of gear
-Improved support for people new to WW2 airsoft
I would urge others to consider doing this. We could even then have a list of these groups in the new members section.

I'm part of the "new" generation, sir. Yet... Facebook to me... Is like trying to understand Quantum Theory... It's impossible.

Rather than faff around on Facebook, why not ask to have a section set up on here? Seems daft to have groups on many different sites when you can keep everything in one place and give organisers an idea of where the player base is?
Indeed, there is already a section called 'Groups' for that very purpose.
Personally I prefer to keep much of my airsofty/dressing up as a German activity somewhat anonymous, whereas with Fartbook it is all there for everyone to see under my real name. (Yes I know I'm in various re-enactment and airsoft groups on FB, so not entirely consistent...)

Groups set up on Facebook are suggested as options to join based on the groups you already belong to and the things you take an interest in, which means that people who might not even know WW2 airsoft exists but already belong to other WW2 or airsoft groups will see the groups thus WW2 airsoft will reach a wider audience.
If you delve into the settings on facebook, it is possible to restrict who sees what. I set the group up as Private, which means non members cannot see anything posted, they can only see a description of the group and a list of members.
