nearly finished the pistol grip and trigger guard assembly ,was really worried about the method of mounting at the front because of the way it fit's by sliding on a diagonal down the motor but after champhering the mount on the gun and the inside of the trigger guard it now slides over nicely, the rear mounts through the original holes on the bracket under the gun reciever, i added a couple of plates to the grip and drilled through the holes in situe ,i'll turn up a pin later.the only thing left to do is the sling mount, now the sides are only 1mm thick so to beef it up im going to make a sleeve that fits inside the grip, through this will be another sleeve riveted through, hard to explain but the result will be a strong sling mount, finally i'm going to make up a pivoted link so the original sling can clip on , i'm hoping it will look like it has two links on the sling rather than just one.

Ah similar to how I was making my grip it ends up a bit chunky but should be solid.

it's all little compromises but it's only 3mm wider than the motor assembly and as you say very strong indeed ,no problem using the sling mount or carrying it by the trigger guard etc... or any other abuse it might get in the field and its quite comfortable for me and i have small hands.

milled down the grips by nearly 4mm each , has made a big difference.

also made up the link for the sling mount.

just the trigger , front sight ,wiring and a bit of tarting up to go.

i was trying for a simple not out of place look that still retained the use of spring loaded attachment on the sling.i think it look's ok but the metal is a little thinner than to part on the sling,i'm sort of hoping that people who don't know will be asking what i'm talking about.

Does all this last minute finishing off mean it may be having its first outing at Crete?

it will be there and may be usable but may not be fully finished ,i'm not rushing it but it would make thing's easier as Steve lives a fair way from me, but it's just really that i have more time on my hands now the winter is over and i have shorter shifts.but realistically it's not likely as i have to start prepping my gear for Crete plus two guns i'm loaning for the game etc etc...

got the switches fitted for the sound system, was hard finding 2 small enough switches to fit the space and to rout the wiring ,also did a bit more tidying of the wiring and fitted another couple of plug's so that it can all be stripped apart if needed .

starting the front sight assembly, the first part is the pivot point for the sight and booster cone latch, it sit's between both part's and is mostly unseen.in the picture its assembled with the booster cone latch and spring and you can see the V grooves that the sight detaunt will lock into in both positions.

sight upright, still not made the blade or adjuster but it flips up and down and locks nicely.

finished the front sight parts except to colour them .there is no mounting hole's on the zib for it so i will have to cut a hole in the top and recess the assembly down into it ,the outer sides are steel and the plan is to make the hole nice and snug and weld the sides in from underneath so the weld is not visible ,it will never look perfect unfortunately as the sides were a pressed out part of the barrel shroud in the real world but in all other respects the assembly will function as the real one.
